Setting up fees
Fee types, packages, installments, discounts and fines — in order.
Fees have a few moving parts, but they fit together in a clear order: define what you charge, group charges into a package, decide how it is paid in installments, and finally handle discounts and fines. Build them in that order.
All amounts are in Indian Rupees (₹). Fees follow the current academic session, so set your session before setting up fees.
Fee types — what you charge
Start with the individual charges: tuition, admission, transport, exam fee, and so on. Each is a fee type with an amount. These are the building blocks.
Packages — grouping charges
A package bundles the fee types that apply to a group of students — for example a class's yearly fees. Instead of billing each charge separately, you assign the package and Ovium bills the whole set.

Build a package
Group the relevant fee types into a package for a class or group.
Assign it to students
Apply the package to a class or to selected students. Their dues are generated from it.
Installments
Rather than one large bill, you can split a package into installments — monthly, quarterly or by term — each with its own due date. Ovium builds each student's installment plan from their real dues, so what a parent sees matches what you billed.
Discounts and fines
Discounts (concessions) reduce a student's dues — a sibling discount or a scholarship, for instance. Fines add a late charge after a due date passes. Both adjust the balance automatically once set.
Set discounts and fines after the dues exist, so there is something for them to adjust. The fee screens hint at this when a list is empty.
Check a student before going live
Open one student's fee page and confirm the total, the installments and any discount read correctly. Because the balance is calculated from real dues and payments, a correct-looking sample means the setup is sound. Next: Collecting fees & receipts.
