Teachers & staff
Add teaching and non-teaching staff and give them logins.
Add everyone who works at the school — teaching and non-teaching — and give them a login. Teachers then sign in to take attendance, enter marks and post homework for their own classes.
Adding a staff member
Open Teachers & Staff
From the left menu open Teachers & Staff, then select Add Teacher (or the staff option).
Enter their details
Fill in name, contact and role. Mark whether they are teaching or non-teaching staff — this decides where they appear and what they can do.
Save
Select the save button to add them. They now appear in your staff list.
Like the student form, the Add Teacher window closes from its × or Cancel button, or by tapping outside it.
Giving teachers a login
A staff member needs a login to actually use Ovium. Create or share their username (usually their mobile or email) and a first password. On first sign-in they set their own password. See Your first login — the steps you can pass on to them.
Making someone a class teacher
A class teacher gets the full view of their assigned section — the class roster, attendance and more. You assign class teachers in Classes & Sections. A subject teacher without a class assignment still enters marks for their subject.
Controlling what staff can do
Access follows role. Teaching staff get the teacher tools; non-teaching staff get only what their role needs. If your Ovium has module assignment, you can fine-tune which areas a staff member can open.
If a teacher reports they cannot see their class, check two things: that they are assigned as the class teacher, and that their account is marked as teaching staff.
Staff who leave
When a staff member leaves, mark them as alumni to keep their record as history rather than deleting them. See Alumni.
